Process Control

To assure our customers of repeatability and consistency from order-to-order and load-to-load, Certified Heat Treating has instituted a robust process control system. Loaded parts are processed with a protective atmosphere to minimize decarburization levels. Oil temperatures are monitored and controlled to maintain distortion levels at a workable minimum.

Regular shim and coil tests are conducted at various carbon potentials, resulting in atmospheric control and carbon potentials within our tight requirements. These tests ensure that case depths are repeatable, retained austenite is controlled, and potential carbide precipitation is prevented.

Quality control at our plant also includes quarterly furnace calibrations and SATs to determine accuracy of both operational and over temperature control thermocouples. And, we use a multichannel DATA logger to ensure temperature uniformity in our furnaces in accordance with AMS 2750E requirements.
